Work through each module together
This is the backbone Tash works from — not a rigid script, but a map. Your child won't do every module in order; she'll shape a personal route around what they need most. Each module has a clear goal, simple activities to do together, and a way to show Tash what you've done.
1 English sounds & phonics ✨ Live lesson
Goal: Learn the English letter-sounds — including the ones that do not exist in Cantonese or Mandarin — and blend them into short words such as sat, pin and man.
You will need: Sound cards (or letters written on paper slips).
Say a sound; your child finds three things in the room that start with it.
Show one card at a time. Say the sound, not the letter name, and trace it in the air together.
Lay out s-a-t and blend it slowly, then faster, into “sat”. Swap a card for a new word.
Focus on final consonants — “cat”, not “ca”. This is the sound most often dropped by Cantonese speakers.
2 First words: colours, numbers, family
Goal: Build the first 100 everyday words — colours, numbers 1–20, family members, classroom objects.
You will need: Household objects, or picture cards.
Count together to 20, clapping each number.
Point and name: “This is a red pen.” Your child repeats the whole sentence, not just the word.
Your child names five things in the room in full sentences.
Add a colour and a number: “Three blue books.”
3 Simple sentences & questions
Goal: Make and answer simple questions — What is it? Where is it? Who is this? — in full sentences.
You will need: A few toys or photos.
Hide an object. Ask “Where is the pen?” and answer together: “It is under the book.”
Practise the question shape: What / Where / Who + is + it.
Your child asks you three questions and you answer.
Swap roles — your child answers in a full sentence every time.
4 Listening & following instructions
Goal: Understand and follow spoken English instructions of two and three steps.
You will need: Nothing — just space to move.
Simon Says with one-step instructions: stand up, touch your nose.
Move to two steps: “Pick up the book and put it on the chair.”
Your child gives you the instructions.
Three steps in a row, no repeats.
5 Speaking: introduce yourself
Goal: Say your name, age, where you live and what you like — clearly and confidently.
You will need: A mirror or a phone camera.
Practise “Hello, my name is…” with a big smile.
Add one fact at a time: name → age → city → a favourite thing.
Record a 20-second introduction on the phone.
Do it again looking up, not reading.
Lessons follow your child's own school grammar book week by week, so they line up with what is already happening in class. One animal friend is earned per block.
