From classroom teacher to one-to-one believer
I spent years teaching full classes and loved it — but I kept noticing the same thing. In a busy classroom of thirty, the quiet ones and the strugglers can slip through the cracks. The children who needed a little extra time, or a different explanation, or simply someone to notice them, weren't always getting it.
So I started Teacher Tash to do something about it. One child at a time, at their pace, with the patience and playfulness that learning to read and write really deserves. Eight years and hundreds of children later, I still get a lump in my throat every time a child reads their first full sentence — or finally writes a story they're proud of.

Kindness first, always
Children can't learn when they're anxious. Every lesson starts with a smile, ends with a win, and never with shame or pressure.
Learning through play
Games, silly sentences, favourite characters and real curiosity. When it's fun, it sticks — and children ask for more.
One plan, one child
No off-the-shelf programmes. I design every lesson around your child's level, interests and the exact next step they need.
Honest, regular updates
You'll always know how it's going. Clear, plain-English progress notes after each block — never vague reassurance.
An hour that flies by
Every lesson follows a gentle rhythm that keeps children engaged without wearing them out — short, varied chunks with movement and play built in.

- The main activity — reading, writing or phonics, tailored to the plan
- A fun twist — a game, story or creative challenge using what we learned
- Proud finish — celebrate a win, set a tiny challenge for next time
Choose 25-minute lessons for younger children, or 50-minute lessons for older children.
